Adrian Mutu netted a brace as Fiorentina defeated Bologna 3-1 in this rescheduled match to rise to fifth in Serie A.
BOLOGNA 1-3 FIORENTINA
Adrian Mutu bagged a brace for Fiorentina on Monday afternoon as the Viola brushed aside Bologna at a wet Stadio Renato Dall'Ara. The Romania striker - on his return to the Viola starting XI - netted twice in the opening 16 minutes from two Ricardo Montolivo assists to score his 100th and 101st goal in Italian football. Although Nicola Mingazzini halved the deficit shortly after the break, Alberto Gilardino was on hand to make the points safe in stoppage time for Cesare Prandelli's side. The result ensures the Viola move up to fifth while Bologna remain four points clear of the danger zone.
The match got under way 24 hours later than originally scheduled after steady rain cleared the layer of snow that had left the pitch unplayable on Sunday afternoon.
