Novellino returns to replace De Biasi at Toro

Torino have sacked boss Gianni De Biasi and re-appointed former coach Walter Novellino as his replacement.

De Biasi has been shown the door following Sunday's 4-1 home defeat against Fiorentina.

The Turin club have failed to win in the last four Serie A games and stand 17th in the table after 15 matches.

"Torino have dismissed coach Gianni De Biasi and his staff," read an official statement this evening. "The club wishes to thank the coach for all the work done and wishes him the best of luck in the future.

"The new coach will be Walter Novellino."

Novellino was at the helm last year but was fired in April with De Biasi taking the reins and steering the team to safety.

The Granata supporters, who held protests at the Stadio Olimpico following the weekend result. have had little to smile about with their side still winless on the road and have only won three at home this campaign.

Torino travel to Bologna next Sunday knowing that a defeat will see them drop into the relegation zone.
