AC Milan defender Daniele Bonera will be sidelined until the new year after undergoing a hernia operation on Thursday, and will miss the Rossoneri's Serie A match at Juventus on Sunday.
The 27-year-old Bonera is the latest addition to coach Carlo Ancelotti's long injury list, and joins Alessandro Nesta, Marco Borriello and Gennaro Gattuso on the sidelines.
The former Parma player has become a key player in Ancelotti's defence since Nesta was ruled out due to an intervertebral hernia at the start of the season.
Bonera will be out of action for three weeks and will miss the final league game before the Winter break against Udinese, as well as the meeting with Wolfsburg in the UEFA Cup on Thursday.
The seven-time European champions are already through to the Round of 32 but need to beat the German side if they are to finish top of Group E.
