UC - MD3: Milan & Samp pick up draws

Portsmouth 2-2 AC MilanAC Milan and Sampdoria had to come from behind to secure draws on Matchday 3 of the UEFA Cup.

A superb free-kick from Ranldinho and a Filippo Inzaghi finish in stoppage time saved Milan from defeat against Portsmouth in Group E and sent them into the last 32, while Sampdoria secured a 1-1 draw against Stuttgart in Group C.

Udinese, who have already secured two wins, had a rest day but their rivals in Group D were all in action.

PORTSMOUTH 2-2 AC MILAN
Filippo Inzaghi scored deep in injury time to complete a stunning late AC Milan comeback at Portsmouth and secure a draw which proved enough to qualify the Rossoneri for the last 32 from Group E. Second-half goals from Younes Kaboul and former Inter striker Nwankwo Kanu seemed to have earned a famous win for debutants Portsmouth but Ronaldinho's superb free-kick with six minutes left turned the tide and Inzaghi, who had struck the woodwork three times during the match, pounced at the death. Wolfsburg's last-gasp 3-2 win in the other Group E game at Braga later made sure of Milan's place in the knockout stages. Carlo Ancelotti's men have one more game remaining, on Matchday 5, against Wolfsburg at home.

Sampdoria 1-1 StuttgartSAMPDORIA 1-1 STUTTGART
A Paolo Sammarco goal cancelled out Ciprian Marica's opener as Sampdoria picked up a draw in their second game against Stuttgart in Genoa. The visitors looked to be heading for victory when Romanian international Marica put the Bundesliga side into an eighth-minute lead. However, Sammarco struck to level the scores before the interval, to leave both sides with four Group C points and a good chance of progressing. Walter Mazzarri's side, who won their openng game, travel to Standard Liege on Matchday 4 next week.
