Tiago faces injury layout

Juventus midfielder Tiago Mendes will not play again in 2008 after the Portuguese international twisted his left knee in the early stages of the 1-0 defeat at Inter on Saturday night.

Tiago underwent a scan which did not show up ligament damages. According to the Juventus medical staff, the 27-year-old "will resume training in about 30-40 days".

After a difficult start to the season Tiago had finally broken into Claudio Ranieri's team, appearing six times in Serie A and once in the UEFA Champions League.

Juve, who will visit Zenit St. Petersburg on Tuesday, have already qualified for the knockout stage while in Serie A, they sit six points behind the league leaders in third spot.
