Amauri's fifth goal of the season was sufficient for Juventus to defeat Torino 1-0 in the Derby della Mole and register the Bianconeri's first Serie A victory in five matches while Catania missed the chance to go top for 24 hours at least when they drew 1-1 at Siena.
JUVENTUS 1-0 TORINO
Juventus broke back into the top 10 of Serie A on Saturday night with their first win in five games, a hard-fought triumph over city rivals Torino. A goal from Amauri after 48 minutes decided the 224th Turin derby in the Bianconeri's favour at the Stadio Olimpico. After beating Real Madrid four days ago, the result made coach Claudio Ranieri's position a little safer, but the same cannot be said for Granata boss Gianni De Biasi, whose side suffered their fifth defeat of the season.
SIENA 1-1 CATANIA
A penalty 11 minutes from time rescued a point for high-flying Catania from a 1-1 draw as Siena continued to prove a tough side to crack on their home ground. Going into the game Marco Giampaolo's side had collected seven of their eight points at home, and they looked set to add another three to that haul when Emanuele Calaio headed his side in front with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining. But with 79 minutes on the clock Michele Paolucci was brought down by Gianluca Curci, and Giuseppe Mascara stepped up to score the first goal for an opposition side at the Stadio Artemio Franchi this season.
