Serie A - Week 6: Saturday Review

Inter 2-1 BolognaInter joined Lazio in pole position in Serie A after beating Bologna 2-1 at the San Siro while the Biancocelesti were held at home by Lecce.

INTER 2-1 BOLOGNA
Inter, beaten by rivals AC Milan last weekend, broke the deadlock after 25 minutes with arguably one of the best goals of the season. Adriano crossed and Zlatan Ibrahimovic back-heeled the ball into Francesco Antonioli's net on the volley. The Nerazzurri went further ahead five minutes after half-time when Adriano tucked away a penalty awarded for handball against Bologna's Sergio Volpi. Six minutes later, though, the visitors were given a lifeline as a defensive mix-up between Javier Zanetti and Ivan Cordoba resulted in a confident finish for Vangelis Moras. However, an equaliser proved beyond a Bologna side who might have conceded further goals to Dejan Stankovic and Ibrahimovic.

Lazio 1-1 LecceLAZIO 1-1 LECCE
Lazio lost exclusive pride of place in the table because they could only draw at home to mid-table Lecce. Delio Rossi's team were grateful for the intervention of substitute Simone Inzaghi whose 89th-minute equaliser rescued a point at the Stadio Olimpico. Lecce were in front after 26 minutes when Simone Tiribocchi headed in a Tiziano Polenghi cross to catch Lazio on the counterattack. The southern club had chances to extend their advantage before Lazio pushed them back in the second half and eventually wore down the resistance of Mario Beretta's men. Inzaghi finally found a way past Francesco Benussi when left unmarked with only the keeper to beat.
