Roma midfielder Alberto Aquilani is expected to be sidelined for the next three weeks after suffering a thigh injury during the Champions League defeat by Chelsea on Wednesday night.
The 24-year-old limped out in the second half of the clash in London and underwent a scan on the injury which confirmed the player had suffered muscle damage.
Should the length of the lay off be confirmed, Aquilani would be set to miss the return fixture with Chelsea in the Italian capital on November 4 as well as the Serie A clash with Juventus the following weekend.
"The player Alberto Aquilani has today undergone a scan which has revealed a grade II muscular injury to the femoral bicep of the left thigh," a statement on Roma's official website read.
The club also announced that forward David Pizarro, who injured his ankle in training prior to the game, had not suffered any major damage and may return for this weekend's league match at Udinese.
