Should the length of the lay off be confirmed, Aquilani would be set to miss the return fixture with Chelsea in the Italian capital on November 4 as well as the Serie A clash with Juventus the following weekend.
"The player Alberto Aquilani has today undergone a scan which has revealed a grade II muscular injury to the femoral bicep of the left thigh," a statement on Roma's official website read.
The club also announced that forward David Pizarro, who injured his ankle in training prior to the game, had not suffered any major damage and may return for this weekend's league match at Udinese.
