[Olympics] Italy start hunt for gold

Italy begin their Olympic campaign against Honduras this morning with kick-off set for 10am in Qinguangdao.

The Azzurri are going in search of a gold medal and looking to improve on their third place in Athens in 2004.

Casiraghi's men will be strong favourites to get off to a winning start against Honduras, but they could struggle in tough climactic conditions.

The temperature is expected to reach 35 degrees with 95 per cent humidity when the game starts at 5pm local time.

Italy breathed a sigh of relief with the news that Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi has shrugged off a back problem in time for the game.

However, overage player Tommaso Rocchi is out with a calf injury, leaving Robert Acquafresca to partner Rossi with Juventus wonder kid Sebastian Giovinco playing behind.

The referee for this morning's clash is Slovenian Damir Skomina with Primoz Ahar and Marko Stancin running the line.

Italy (probable): Viviano, Motta, Bocchetti, Criscito, De Ceglie, Cigarini, Montolivo, Nocerino, Giovinco, Rossi, Acquafresca.
