Uruguayan striker Ruben Olivera was the architect of the win, putting in an eye-catching performance.
Gian Piero Gasperini's men took the lead on 20 minutes through Olivera, before he doubled their advantage a minute before the break.
The hosts then wrapped up the win with a third from Omar Milanetto on 78 minutes.
Mantova did pull one back in second half stoppage time through Dario Passoni, but it was to be nothing more than a consolation.

Sassuolo won the third tier title last season, while their opponents took the fourth division crown.
However, it was the hosts who took the spoils when Emiliano Salvetti snatched a late winner on 85 minutes.
