Fiorentina have tempted the Lazio captain Luciano Zauri to the Artemio Franchi on loan for the season with a view to a permanent transfer.
The 30-year-old appeared in 132 Serie A games during five seasons at the Stadio Olimpico, 18 of them last season after being handed the armband.
Zauri, who has been capped five times by Italy, previously played for Chievo and Atalanta.
He is the Viola's eighth summer signing after Alberto Gilardino, Stefan Jovetic, Jefferson Andrade Siqueira, Felipe Melo, Juan Manuel Vargas, Gianluca Comotto and Marco Storari.
Fiorentina will enter the UEFA Champions League in the third qualifying round after pipping AC Milan to fourth place last term.
