The Italian Supercoppa final will be played in the United States of America next season, Lega Calcio President Antonio Matarrese has revealed.
The season's curtain raiser pits Serie A champions Inter against Coppa Italia winners Roma for the third consecutive year.
And in the 2008-09 edition, the clash will take place in the USA in order to appeal to the large North American market.
"The Supercoppa Italiana could be played in Philadelphia because we have received an offer from there as well as New York," Matarrese said.
"Will the Italian fans complain? If they do, it means they will be making the trip."
It will not be the first time the Italian Super Cup has been contested abroad or on American soil. The 1993 final between AC Milan and Torino was played in Washington, while Juventus and Milan faced off at the Giants Stadium in New York in 2003.
In 2002, the Juventus-Parma final was played in the Libyan capital of Tripoli.
Milan hold the record for the most Super Cup triumphs with five, while Inter have lifted the trophy three times and Roma twice.
Roma were victorious last year at San Siro thanks to a Daniele De Rossi penalty.
