Veteran midfielder Sergio Volpi has become Bologna's first signing since they won promotion to Serie A.
The 34-year-old has arrived at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara on a free transfer after his contract at Sampdoria expired.
Volpi has spent six seasons at Samp, where he was team captain and even earned two Italy caps – the first of which came in 2004 under Giovanni Trapattoni.
The deep-lying playmaker made 28 appearances last term and has also represented Piacenza, Venezia, Bari and Brescia.
Bologna are expected to make six or seven signings as they look to build a squad that can stay afloat in the top flight.
The Felsinei are reportedly tracking Parma midfielder Francesco Parravicini, who may become their second new recruit.
