Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli breathed a huge sigh of relief after watching his side seal a place in next season's UEFA Champions League with a 1-0 win at Torino.
La Viola looked to be heading for a fifth-placed finish - and the UEFA Cup - until Pablo Osvaldo scored 15 minutes from time to preserve Fiorentina's two-point lead over AC Milan, who were 4-1 winners at home to Udinese.
"We have struggled in front of goal against Torino, who played very well, but in the end we have been rewarded," said Prandelli.
"We played a great game but we enjoyed a fantastic tournament.
"Since the beginning of the season we have been fourth and we truly deserved a place in the Champions League next season.
"It would have been unfair to have seen this spot taken away from us on the final day of the campaign."
Fiorentina, who reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup only to be eliminated on penalties by Glasgow Rangers, know they need to strengthen their squad if they are to challenge in Europe's elite club competition next season.
"We have to be satisfied with what we have done this campaign," said Prandelli. "We will take a couple of days to rest before we start planning for next season."
