[Mercato] Milan complete Zambrotta deal

AC Milan have confirmed the signing of Italy international Gianluca Zambrotta from Barcelona.

Zambrotta joined the Spanish giants in 2006 from Juventus, but had been keen to return to Serie A.

The 31-year-old had been lined up as a possible signing by Milan for several weeks and an agreement has now been reached with Barca.

Milan confirmed the capture on the club's official website, although no details of the fee or the length of Zambrotta's contract have been disclosed.

Zambrotta is currently with the Italy squad preparing for the UEFA European Championship in Austria and Switzerland, which starts in a week's time.

Milan had been keen to strengthen the full-back area after releasing veteran Brazilian duo Marcos Cafu and Serginho at the end of the season.

The Rossoneri have also shown an interest in two more Barcelona players - Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto'o - as the club look to bounce back from missing out on qualification for next season's UEFA Champions League.
