Manchester United took a huge stride towards the last four of the UEFA Champions League after securing a 2-0 first leg win over a desperately unlucky Roma side in the their quarter-final at the Stadio Olimpico.
Roma 0-2 Manchester United
Cristiano Ronaldo headed Manchester United in front from Paul Scholes' cross six minutes before half-time. Roma rallied, with Christian Panucci and Max Tonetto missing from close range and Edwin van der Sar saving brilliantly from Mirko Vucinic's 61st-minute header. The visitors' defence had resisted a determined rally from the home side, but Wayne Rooney bundled home United's crucial second five minutes later. Luciano Spalletti's Roma must hate the sight of Sir Alex Ferguson's men who eliminated them at this stage last year. Given that they have already beaten the Giallorossi twice at Old Trafford in the last 12 months, few would bet against the English Premier League champions sealing a semi-final berth when the teams meet again next Wednesday.
OTHER RESULTS: Arsenal 1-1 Liverpool / Fenerbahce 2-1 Chelsea / Schalke 0-1 Barcelona

As i said in my own blog we made the mistake of fighting this season on two fronts. The Scudetto front and the Champions league front.I wish in a way Inter hadnt stumbled giving us a false hope of the Scudetto.Which imperiled Totti by playing him against Cagliari instead of resting him for the Champions league.Abbiamo bisongo un Miracolo.
