Roma face "strongest side" in Europe

Roma sporting director Daniele Prade believes the Giallorossi have drawn the strongest side left in the UEFA Champions League in Manchester United.

Luciano Spalletti’s side were eviscerated by United at this stage last year, but were unfortunate to lose 1-0 at Old Trafford in the Group stages and claimed a draw at the Stadio Olimpico earlier this season.

While the capital club will approach the game with confidence, Prade admits the draw was a disappointment.

"In my opinion they are the strongest side of the lot, but so are we," he said. "I saw and heard the sighs of relief when we drew each other.

"I wouldn’t have chosen Manchester United, but now that we have drawn them I believe we can do it.

"United have made this journey so many times and keep the same mentality, but we are still learning it. However, we are capable of getting through.

"If we play like we have in recent weeks, we can put on a good show. We have a complete squad with a strong starting 11 and we have improved.

"In the Groups we showed that we are a different team from the one that lost 7-1 and we didn’t deserve to lose at Old Trafford.

"We are the only side in three competitions – the Scudetto, the Champions League and the Coppa Italia.

"Our coach has balanced the squad intelligently and Manchester United should fear us."
