CL Draw: Roma meet Manchester United

Champions League drawRoma will renew hostilities with Manchester United after being paired together in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

Having heroically triumphed over Real Madrid, Luciano Spalletti’s men had hoped to meet one of the lesser lights such as Schalke or Fenerbahce.

However, the Giallorossi instead come up against Premier League champions Manchester United, who trounced them at this stage last season and finished above them in the group stage.

The Red Devils demolished Spalletti’s side 7-1 at Old Trafford and 8-3 on aggregate this time last year, but a much-improved capital club will be eyeing revenge this time around.

In the group stage this year, the English giants won a tight first match 1-0 at home before a 1-1 draw in Rome.

Both sides will hope that there is no repeat of the scenes of violence that have marred some of their previous encounters.

Roma will play the first leg at the Stadio Olimpico on April 1 before travelling to Manchester on April 9.

Should Roma progress from their last 8 tie they will move on to play either Schalke or Barcelona in the semi-finals.

In the other half of the draw, Arsenal will take on Liverpool in an all-English tie while Chelsea visit Fenerbahce.
