Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu is out of their UEFA Cup Round of 16 tie with Everton after being sidelined for four weeks with a knee injury.
The 29-year-old Romanian international sustained ligament damage during Sunday's 1-0 Serie A loss at Roma after a collision with opposition goalkeeper Alexander Doni.
Mutu had to leave the field late in the first half and underwent tests on Monday morning to reveal the extent of the problem.
Mutu, the 2007 Romanian Player of the Year, has struck 14 goals in 21 Serie A games this season and has scored three more in the UEFA Cup.
Fiorentina welcome Everton to Florence on 6 March and visit Liverpool the following week.
He will also miss a number of Serie A games in that period as the Viola look to snatch a Champions League qualifying spot.
