[Mercato] Aquilani has no desire to leave

Alberto Aquilani has stated his desire to remain at Roma despite the growing interest in his services.

A number of clubs, both in Italy and abroad, are rumoured to be keen on the Azzurri youngster who has seen his Serie A opportunities limited this season because of a long-term injury.

Several clubs reportedly had offers rejected for the midfielder last summer, but for now Aquilani is happy to remain at his hometown club.

He is currently contracted to Roma until 2010 and his agent Franco Zavaglia has confirmed that there are no plans for him to depart the Stadio Olimpico in the near future.

"He wants to stay at Roma," he said. "The club realise that he is a fundamental part of the squad and an important part of their future.

"The fact that there is interest in him is obvious, he's one of the best midfielders around at the moment.

"There has been interest from abroad and in Italy, but there is no hurry for him to leave.

"His deal does not expire until 2010 and we have faith that Roma will want him to stay."
