Lazio boss Delio Rossi said he would not resign after being locked in talks with club president Claudio Lotito following the 2-1 home defeat to Genoa, which leaves the Rome club close to the Serie A relegation zone.
"Now, with humility, we must only think of safety," Rossi said. "My position is not in discussion. I want to stay at Lazio as it is in difficult moments that real men come to the fore."
The defeat relegated them to 14th in the table, just four points clear of the drop zone.
The Biancocelesti now travel to Naples for a double header against Napoli. On Thursday they will try to defend their 2-1 lead in the second leg of the Coppa Italia Fourth Round.
Then on Sunday, the pressure of Serie A returns for Rossi's men.
