Lecce suffer training tragedy

Tragedy has struck Serie B club Lecce after a staff member was killed by a bolt of lighting today.

The Lecce squad had been involved in a training session when a sudden storm forced them to take shelter in the dressing room.

Antonio De Giorgi, kits manager, had remained outside to collect the training equipment when he was freakishly struck.

Ambulance and paramedics immediately arrived onto the scene but were unable to revive the 42-year-old.

He leaves a wife and a son behind him and Lecce are now set to ask for their match with Cesena on Saturday to be postponed.
