AC Milan star Kaka is on a three-man shortlist for FIFA's World Player of the Year award.
The 25-year-old is up against Manchester United's Portuguese winger Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona's Argentine youngster Lionel Messi.
It is the first time any of the trio have been shortlisted for the award, which was won by Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro last year.
The award is voted for by the managers and captains of the national teams of all of FIFA's member countries.
The announcement will be made at FIFA's World Player Gala in Zurich on 17 December.
Kaka is also set to receive the prestigious Ballon d’Or award on Sunday in Paris.
The award, presented by France Football magazine, is elected by journalists.
The Brazilian has already picked up an individual award this year, having been named FIFPro World Player of the Year, voted for by 45,000 of his fellow professionals, in October. He is now favourite to finish the year with two more awards to complete a hat-trick.
