Zalayeta ban rescinded

Napoli have successfully appealed against striker Marcelo Zalayeta's two-match ban handed to him by the Disciplinary Commission.

Zalayeta was suspended on Monday after officials felt he dived to win a penalty which resulted in the third goal for Napoli in their 3-1 win over Juventus at the weekend.

Napoli, citing video evidence of contact between Nicola Legrottaglie and Zalayeta, appealed to the Federal Court against the suspension.

Replays showed the Uruguayan forward was not touched by goalkeeper Gianluca Buffon, although he claimed he was pushed from behind by Legrottaglie.

Zalayeta will now be available to play against Fiorentina on Wednesday evening.
