Aquilani blow for Roma

Roma's Alberto Aquilani will be sidelined for two months after damaging a thigh muscle.

The Italy international picked up the injury after an hour of Tuesday's 1-0 Champions League defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The 23-year-old suffered a similar injury last season prompting fears that he may be in for a long spell out of action.

But Roma's doctor Mario Brozzi hinted the injury was not as bad as first feared and predicted the midfielder would be out for eight weeks.

"Alberto is better than yesterday, as we are giving him a special kind of therapy," Brozzi told reporters.

Aquilani recently forced his way into the national side and figured in the Euro 2008 win in the Ukraine, but will now definitely miss Italy's Group B qualifier with Georgia in Genoa on 13th October.

The Giallorossi already have Rodrigo Taddei, Marco Cassetti and Christian Panucci injured, while goalkeeper Alexander Doni missed the Manchester United game after he was struck by a stomach bug on Monday night.
