Sampdoria’s opponents in the UEFA Intertoto Cup third round will be PFC Cherno More Varna.
The Bulgarian outfit comfortably saw off Makedonija Skopje of Macedonia 7-0 on aggregate, after winning the first leg 4-0 last week and 3-0 in the return last night.
The Blucerchiati were the only Italian side who chose to enter the Intertoto Cup this year and will begin their campaign on either July 21 or 22. The return in Genoa is set for July 28 or 29.
If Sampdoria do progress, they will enter the second qualifying round of the UEFA Cup. The draw for this will take place on 3 August. The first leg will be played on 16 August 2007 with the return leg on 30 August.
Walter Mazzarri's side will qualify for the UEFA Cup proper, entering the first round and joining Empoli, Fiorentina and Palermo, if they win their two-legged second qualifying round tie. The draw for the UEFA Cup first round will be made on 31 August with the matches taking place on 20 September and 4 October.
