Lega Calcio President Antonio Matarrese & FIGC President Giancarlo Abete
The Lega Calcio has tonight released the schedule for Serie A next season – and there’s bad news for Roberto Donadoni and the national side. The FIGC had originally asked for the campaign to begin on August 19 to help the Azzurri squad to prepare for the crucial Euro 2008 qualifiers against France on September 8 and Ukraine on September 12.
However, Donadoni’s request fell on deaf ears and it has been decided that the big kick-off will be on August 26 instead.
As regards the Italian Footballers' Association's desire to do away with midweek rounds and evening kick-offs during the winter months, the Lega has decided that there will be no midweek rounds in the months of November, December, January and February, but that there will be Saturday and Sunday evening kick-offs in Serie A.
The new Serie B season will also start on the same weekend, with the opening matches on August 25. Serie B officials also decided to keep the play-off and play-out format to determine promotions and relegations at the Italian Football League meeting.

thanks let me know about new season 2007-08. i support juventus in my life.
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame (for me) that Serie A starts at the end of August.
ReplyDeleteI'm from México and I'm going to visit Italy; one of my many purposes was to attend a Seria A match. :(
Thanks for the schedule!
By the way, I also support Juventus (I followed their Serie B games on SKY).
Here are the first 6 weeks of fixtures. I am not happy Milan have an away game as our first fixture. We need a world class striker to support Ronaldo and a few new players. I think we can still just about win the league with our current squad. Juve will be our biggest threats. David in London

Sentanta Sports will cover Serie A games for those who will be watching in the UK. The great presenter James Richardson has signed a contract with them so he will provide excellent coverage again. The title will be tight this time. Inter had no challengers last year with Juve and Milan punished.Juve play boring football but are highly methodical. They have good funds and can attract excellent players so have a chance to win it. Inter have unlimited funds and have a massive squad. Milan have money but rarely spend it. AC Milan need young players desperately and a striker to assist Ronaldo but can still win the title with these players - just. The title will go to either Juve, Inter or Milan - nobody else. Hopefully Milan will win it. Milan for life. D
ReplyDeleteI am unsure if Sentanta have live coverage of Serie A games for the upcoming 2007 -2008 season. They have not advertised it. I have read on numerous occassions than Channel 5 have bought the rights. I cant understand why so many broadcasters have bought and dropped live Serie A games starting with Channel 4, then Eurosport, then Bravo, last season Sentanta and now possibly Channel 5. La Liga has been consistently on Sky Sports. Anybody with more information on who exactly will cover Serie A games on British TV please update me and all the other lovers of Serie A. Thanks.
