Juventus have clinched the Serie B title after beating Mantova 2-0 at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin.
The Bianconeri, demoted to the second tier last summer as punishment for their part in the Calciopoli scandal, have dominated the Cadetti, but had to wait until now to guarantee top spot.
France striker David Trezeguet put Juve ahead 10 minutes into the second half and former European player of the year Pavel Nedved doubled their advantage with 17 minutes to go.
Despite the title success, speculation still persists as to the future of coach Didier Deschamps. Earlier in the day, Juve posted a statement on their website insisting Deschamps was still in his job following reports in the Italian media that he would quit at the end of the season.
The 38-year-old has already been linked with the Lyon post vacated by Gerard Houllier on Friday.
