CL: Quarter-Finals, First Leg

Tuesday 3 April
QF, First Leg: Milan 2-2 Bayern Munich
A last-gasp equaliser from Daniel Van Buyten earned Bayern Munich a 2-2 draw at AC Milan and gave the German side the edge in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final. The Belgian international defender turned in from close range with 12 minutes remaining to cancel out Andrea Pirlo's first-half opener, but Milan regained the lead within six minutes as Kaka was adjudged to have been fouled by Lucio and picked himself up to calmly stroke in his seventh Champions League goal of the season from the spot. Just when it seemed Milan would take the narrowest of advantages into the second leg in Munich next Wednesday, however, Van Buyten capitalised on uncertainty in the home defence to clinch a potentially vital draw with the last kick of the match.

QF, First Leg: Other Results
PSV Eindhoven 0-3 Liverpool.

Wednesday 4 April
QF, First Leg: Roma 2-1 Manchester United
Roma will take a slender lead to Old Trafford next Tuesday after defeating ten-man Manchester United 2-1 in a pulsating Champions League quarter-final first leg at the Stadio Olimpico. After a tense opening half-hour the tie came to life when Paul Scholes was dismissed for two bookings, prompting Roma to adopt a more offensive approach. Taddei broke the deadlock a minute before the interval, only for Wayne Rooney to score a potentially crucial away goal on the hour. However, Mirko Vucinic's strike, just four minutes after coming off the bench, gave the Giallorossi the edge.

QF, First Leg: Other Results
Chelsea 1-1 Valencia.
