Italy’s World Cup heroes were named as World Team of the Year at the Laureus awards, it was announced in Barcelona on Monday.
The Azzurri lifted the honour after their heroics during Germany 2006 when they were crowned world champions for the fourth time in their history.
Italy captain and Real Madrid stopper Fabio Cannavaro failed to win the World Sportsman of the Year award though.
The defender, the FIFA and European Footballer of the Year, was beaten to the top spot by the world's top tennis player Roger Federer.
