Toro sack Zac!

Torino have parted company with coach Alberto Zaccheroni in the wake of a sixth successive Serie A defeat and reappointed Gianni De Biasi, who was sacked just before the start of the season.

Saturday's 3-0 reverse at Chievo means the Granata have lost all their games in 2007 and are now 16th in Serie A with 22 points, only two places and two points above the relegation zone.

Club President Urbano Cairo confirmed this morning that De Biasi was taking training ahead of Wednesday's visit of Cagliari, having agreed a contract until 2008.

The 50-year-old led Torino to promotion last term, but a series of poor pre-season results convinced the board to appoint Zaccheroni, 53, in his place only three days before Serie A kicked off.

Zaccheroni is the eighth coach to be replaced in Serie A this season, the last one being Stefano Pioli who was fired by Parma to make way for Caudio Ranieri’s return to Italy.
