Promoted Torino have made a coaching change just days before the start of the Serie A season. Coach Gianni De Biasi has been sacked prior to Toro kicking-off their campaign against Parma on Sunday.
Former Udinese, AC Milan, Lazio and Internazionale coach Alberto Zaccheroni has been appointed as De Biasi's successor. Zaccheroni led Milan to the 1998-9 Scudetto in what has been the highlight of his career to date.
Toro announced the dismissal with a statement which announced that the club "had sacked from the role of first-team coach Giovanni De Biasi. The club thanks him for his work and wishes him all the best for the future."
De Biasi was the architect of Torino's promotion-winning campaign last season. However, the club has had a difficult pre-season with elimination from the Coppa Italia at the hands of unfashionable southerners Crotone and friendly defeats by Cuneo, Alessandria and Genoa.
