Serie C - Round-up

Serie C the third and fourth highest league in Italy. It is broken up Serie C1 (third tier of Italian football) and Serie C2 (fourth tier).

In turn, Serie C1 consists of two divisions: Serie C1/A and Serie C1/B, both of 18 teams. At the end of the season, four teams (two from each division) go up to Serie B and six teams (three from each division) go down to Serie C2.


Serie C2 consists of three divisions: Serie C2/A, Serie C2/B, and Serie C2/C, all of them composed of 18 teams. At the end of the season, six teams (two from each division) go up to Serie C1 and nine teams (three from each division) go down to Serie D.

In each of the five divisions, two teams are promoted and three teams are relegated. The first-placed team is automatically promoted, while the next four teams (2nd-5th) enter a playoff tournament to determine the other team that will be promoted.

In the relegation zone, the last placed team (18th) is automatically relegated. The teams placed 14th down to 17th enter a playout round. The two losing teams from the matches go down.


Serie C1/A:
Grosseto (62 points) secured automatic promotion to Serie B on the final day of the regular Serie C season finishing just one point clear of their nearest rivals Sassuolo (61). They will have to go through the play-off to join Grosseto in the Cadetti along with Pisa (58), Venezia (54) and Monza (54) who all finished the play-off spots, with the latter two just ahead of Cittadella only on goal difference.

Pavia (26 points) were relegated to Serie C2, while Ivrea (31), Pizzighettone (33), Sangiovannese (36) and Pro Sesto (41) will fight to survive the two remaining relegation spots in the two-legged play-out matches.

Serie C1/B:
Ravenna (69 points) secured automatic promotion to Serie B finishing just three points clear of their nearest rivals Avellino (66). They will have to go through the play-off to join Ravenna in the Cadetti along with Cavese (62), Foggia (59) and Taranto (56) who all finished the play-off spots. Perugia finished just two points behind the play-off zone in seventh.

Serie C2/A:
Legnano (61 points) secured automatic promotion to Serie C1 finishing just one point clear of their nearest rivals Lecco (60). They will have to go through the play-off to join Legnano in C1 along with Pergocrema (59), Nuorese (57) and Bassano (55) who all finished the play-off spots.

Foligno (62 points) secured automatic promotion to Serie C1 finishing just two points clear of their nearest rivals Cisco Roma (60). They will have to go through the play-off to join Foligno in C1 along with Spal (59), Paganese (57) and Reggiana (51) who all finished the play-off spots.

Sorrento (64 points) secured automatic promotion to Serie C1 finishing just one point clear of their nearest rivals Benevento (63). They will have to go through the play-off to join Sorrento in C1 along with Potenza (54), Gela (54) and Monopoli (53) who all finished the play-off spots.
