Football Italia on British TV

There has never been a better time to be a fan of Italian football. As most of you will be only too aware, following your favourite team can be an expensive business – especially if you don’t live in Italy! However, thanks to the folks at Bravo, Setanta Sports, British Eurosport and Channel 4 you can be kept bang up to date with all of the action every weekend.

Serie A on Bravo
The Flextech-owned Bravo began their coverage last year, which was hailed for sticking to the original C4 format – not too much of a surprise, given that it was produced by the same team. James Richardson returns to anchor it all once again – for his fourteenth season - but he will be joined this year by a familiar face. Paul Gascoigne, the catalyst behind England’s obsession with calcio in the early 90s after his move to Lazio, will host the new 'Mai Dire Gol' section of the Gazzetta Football Italia program taking a look at the funnier side of Football Italia. Gazzetta will be shown every Friday night with several peak-time repeats.

As usual Bravo will bring you all the action from the week's top match in Football Italia Live every Serie A weekend. On Thursday's, Bravo 2 (formerly Player) will bring you the full 90-minutes of another one of the week's top matches on Mezzanotte.

and on Setanta Sports...
If one game a week isn’t enough for you, then a subscription to the Setanta Sports package could be the way to go. Setanta Sports 1, 2 and Ireland will show over 60 live games from the top flight plus delayed highlights throughout the season. The package includes live action from some Europe’s other top Leagues every week including the SPL, Ligue 1, Bundesliga, Ere Divisie and the Super Liga.

Serie B on Eurosport 2
Juventus fans worried that they might miss the Bianconeri’s first ever Serie B campaign need not worry, as Eurosport 2 will be bringing you a weekly dose of Italy’s second tier action once again. The broadcaster, which covered the end of last season's Championship, has again secured the rights to show live coverage throughout the 2006-07 campaign - including the end of season play-offs and play-outs.

With some of Italy's major clubs such as the Bianconeri themselves, Genoa, and Napoli amongst others all competing in Serie B, it promises to be one of the most exciting leagues anywhere in Europe this season – so expect some pulsating encounters. Up to three games will be shown live every Serie B round on Friday, Saturday and Monday's.

Goals, Features & Interviews...
For goals round-up, British Eurosport will bring the best of the action from the top European Leagues on its Eurogoals show every Monday night. And if that’s not enough, Channel 4’s new Thursday morning Goalissimo programme will be your definitive weekly round-up of world football including great goals, features, highlights and interviews from all the major leagues across the globe, including the best action from Italy and other top European Leagues.

Every week this page will be updated to provide you with all the information you need to satisfy your Football Italia viewing needs…

  2. Hi dantheman,

Unfortunately the British Eurosport 2 deal to show Serie B football looks like it has been cancelled - I don't have the official reasons as to why - so no Juve games on Eurosport!

Regarding live games of Roma... Bravo have only confirmed the next 3 rounds of live games - each of them dominated by the Milan teams...

    Sunday 22 October, 7pm
    Wk 7: Milan v Palermo

    Wednesday 25 October, 7pm
Wk 8: Inter Milan v Livorno

    Saturday 28 October, 7pm
Wk 9: AC Milan v Inter Milan

I'm guessing they will then show the next two Roma games...

    Sunday 5 November (k/o: 7.30pm)
    Wk 10: Roma v Fiorentina

    Saturday 11 November (k/o: 7.30pm)
    Wk 11: Milan v Roma

    Hope that helps!

  4. Hi Danny,

I support Leeds United - we've had a terrible start to the season!

Milan are my club - that where my family originate from, I visit Italy/Milan quite a few times. And this team is struggling too!

If Juve are in the play-off area, fighting for promotion, I think Buffon will stay.

If the current form goes pear-shaped and Juve stuggle, which dosen't look likely at the moment, I think he will go.

  10. I take it Eurosport 2 have pulled the plug on the serie B matches as there hasnt been a game for the last 2 weeks. I sincerely hope not as it was the only way of catching Napoli this season.
