[UCL] Fiorentina edge through

Fiorentina have qualified for the UEFA Champions League for the second successive season after coming from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against Sporting Lisbon, going through on the away-goals rule.

Fiorentina 1-1 Sporting Lisbon (Agg: 3-3)Following a 2-2 draw in last week's first leg in Lisbon, Sporting knew they had to score in Florence to progress.

Joao Moutinho did just that with a trademark free-kick ten minutes before the break, but the introduction of Stevan Jovetic changed the face of the game and the Montenegrin levelled soon after coming on.

The Viola were the better side after that and held on to go into the hat, alongside nine other play-off winners this week, for Thursday's group-stage draw.

Cesare Prandelli's men will also join the 22 automatic entrants including fellow Serie A sides Inter, Juventus and Milan. However, only the Rossoneri are amongst the top seeds for the draw, while both Inter and Juve are in the second pot and Fiorentina are in the third pot.
